Salvation is through faith in Jesus by the grace of our God, Yahweh, the Father. Scripture also requires baptism in order to gain salvation. It is not just any “faith” that saves, but salvation requires a “saving faith.” Following Jesus and obeying his commands is explicitly taught as a requirement of that saving faith. Not following Jesus demonstrates a lack of faith in Jesus. Therefore, choosing to follow the commands of Jesus, as a necessary component of saving faith, is required for salvation. This is not “earning” salvation. Rather, it is the Biblically specified process of having saving faith in the Savior Jesus and making the choice for salvation.
